Examples of cross border dispute resolution

  • Advising an English importer of cooking wine in respect of a dispute with UK Border Agency on taxation of imported goods.
  • Acting for a Chinese factory with Taiwanese parent company in a claim against an English company for damages for failing to deliver goods as specified in the contract.
  • Acting for a Hong Kong company in respect of a licence agreement with a well known brand of an English company.  Issues involve competition, termination and repudiation of a 20 years licence.
  • Advising Costa Equipment, a Brazil based company who bought heavy-weight cranes from a UK manufacturer, on a dispute over the ownership of these cranes. Work involved both shipping issues as well as validity of contracts.
  • Acting for a Taiwanese product manufacturer in relation to the termination of the distributorship against an English company.
  • Acting for a Taiwanese material trading company in relation to several fraudulent sales against the major UK financial service providers and companies.
  • Advised on the enforceability of an out of date money judgement from Hong Kong court in England.
  • Acting for claimant, Great Wealth Asia (a Hong Kong based telecom company), against 7 defendants in a dispute arising from purchasing of a quantity of mobile phones.
  • Advising a UK based importer of flower pots from China in a £2m dispute with its Holland based customer.
  • Advising an agent in defending a claim by a Lithuanian manufacturer for supplying military doors to Equatorial Guinea government.
  • Acting for an English company in ascertaining the ownership of recycling plastic discs during the transportation of these discs to China.
  • Advising on a range of products, including fresh fruits, medicine, frozen foods, being imported into England.
  • Acting for a UK based company importing platinum that had been seized by UK Border Agency; and acted for them in proceedings at Magistrates’ court.
  • Advising an agent in defending a claim by a Lithuanian manufacturer for supplying military doors to Equatorial Guinea government.
  • Advising Novell Enterprise Limited, an English recycling company concerning the ownership of products which were at the time being shipped to Vietnam.
